Admission
into the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Program - The first course Chemical Engineering students take is ChBE 200. The course is offered in the fall and the winter. Students can only be entered into the course by the department after completing the application process.
To be eligible to start the major, students
must have successfully completed Chemistry 123 (General
Chemistry) and Mathematics 153 (Calculus and Analytic
Geometry). It is recommended that students have complete a first year sequence - either Eng 181/183/167, Eng 185/186/187 or the FEH Program but not required for admission to the major
Students must complete an Application to Major and submit it to Mary Lamont before they schedule for the quarter in which they would like to start the major (to start Autumn, apply Spring; to start winter, apply Fall).
Students must also have a cumulative
point-hour ratio (CPHR) of at least 2.00 and a secondary

courses of at least 2.00.
All students with the required prerequisite courses and
a CPHR of 3.00 or above will be automatically admitted to
Chemical Engineering 200. Those below 3.00 will be
reviewed by a departmental admissions committee. Factors
considered include, but are not limited to the applicant's
CPHR, SPHR, experience and/or independent projects which
provide evidence of engineering aptitude, professional
goals, and considerations of under-represented groups.
