Applying to the Chemical Engineering Program
Students must formally apply for admission to the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department one quarter prior to when they wish to enroll in the first chemical engineering course, CHBE 200. The course is offered in the Autumn and the Winter.

Mary will accept applications at any time, however, timeliness is appreciated. You should have your application turned in for the quarter that you would like to enroll in CHBE 200 BEFORE you schedule for that particular quarter. Applications for autumn quarter are the heaviest, so you should plan on having your application to Mary the first week of spring quarter.
The minimum requirements for admission are:

Completion of Math 151, 152, 153

Completion of Chemistry 121, 122, 123

Secondary point-hour ratio (SPHR) of 2.00 or higher (SPHR is the grade point average for Math and Chemistry courses listed above.) Applicants having fulfilled all of the course requirements and having a cumulative point-hour ratio (CPHR) of 3.00 or higher are assured acceptance into the Chemical Engineering Program.
Enrollment is based on a first come first serve basis at this point in time. Be sure to get your application in early to ensure acceptance for the quarter that you would like to being. Keep in mind that completing a first year engineering sequence prior to starting the major is recommended but not required.
