NOTE: This checklist is intended as a tool for students transferring to Ohio State who are interested in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering and have already been admitted to the University. Students who have not yet been admitted should CLICK HERE for appropriate information.
Students transferring into Ohio State from another institution should complete the following upon being accepted to Ohio State:
1. Activate your OSU username. If you do not have web access, you can contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to have your username activated.
2. Download your Transfer Credit Report. You should also receive a copy of the report in the mail.
3. Review your transfer credit report. For more information on interpreting the report, please click here.
4. For those courses in which you received special or general credit, contact the specific department and have your credit evaluated. Usually, this process consists of the following: finding a matching course description online for the course you received special credit for and taking the materials for the course (course description, syllabus, possibly even the book) to the OSU department. Each department handles transfer credit evaluations differently, thus, be sure to contact the department first to check on their procedures.
NOTE: You MUST have your math credit evaluated before coming to campus. Math counselors are not available at orientation and you must have your math credit evaluated before any other core coursework is scheduled.
see: common coordinators (Math, Chem, etc.) - full list of transfer credit coordinators
5. Contact Dr. Jim Rathman to set up an appointment to meet prior to starting classes if you have taken courses at another institution in their department of Chemical Engineering. Dr. Rathman will help sort out your schedule and suggest course options for you to begin with as well as determine if any of your previous work in chemical engineering will apply to our program.
6. Set up an appointment with the undergraduate academic advisor for Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, to talk about scheduling the courses that you need to get started at Ohio State.
